Atlas is not your typical technology company. We’re out to find solutions for your business that make sense for you.

To a company selling hammers, every customer is looking for a nail. Sure, technology is an important part of making most businesses successful, but far too often salespeople are only interested in recommending the products and services they sell, not the ones you need.

Our clients appreciate our professionalism, ethics, and advice to help make sure their IT systems are able to support their businesses and protect their customers’ data. Here’s what some of them have to say:

I have a very old Mac, which I thought saw its last days, until Daryle revived it. The Mac store said it was not fixable, but Daryle did a wonderful job bringing it back to life. Excellent service and quick turnaround. Highly recommend Atlas Solutions!

Daryle was great to work with in developing and facilitate a virtual table top exercise for NAIT. He made sure that our objectives were identified in the beginning of the planning process and during the actual exercise, to make sure we got the most out of the exercise.

I started working with Daryle of Atlas Solutions in January 2019 when we discussed the big pain point in my business-—how to have everyone on my team be able to access the documents using real time updates from any location in a safe and digitally encrypted manner. If that sounds like a tall order, it is.

Daryle began by discussing the benefits of using G Suite to merge my accounts and create a more streamlined system. At first the idea of changing all my accounts to Google seemed to be ill advised. I was worried about what would happen to my actual emails (like chantelle@travellingthecs.com or info@travellingthecs.com) and didn’t want to have to create a new email account. In reality, when you start paying for your email (I’ve always used free accounts) you can link them to the G Suite account and just like magic, all your files are merged and no new email accounts need to be created. We then merged the G Suite account with my G Drive (the cloud where I store my encrypted files) and now I can add different devices and computers to my G drives ensuring everyone on the team has access to the latest documents in the cloud. In addition, a large part of my business is done internationally so Daryle ensured I met all the requirements for the cyber-security policy I purchased through my insurance broker. This involves encrypting my laptop in the event it it ever stolen so that I can travel and not worry about client data.

Daryle took the time to make sure he delivered on what he promised and has created a cohesive computer system that I don’t need to think about; it just works. And in those rare occasions it doesn’t work, I call Daryle and he remote accesses my computer, fixing the problems so I’m back to work with little downtime.

In an era where business is online, having a platform that decreases your workload by avoiding duplication work but still protects your data is key. Thank you Daryle for showing me how to operate in a more efficient company using the technologies we have access to.

As the owner of Peak Play Consulting Corp, a small business with clients across Western Canada, I use Microsoft Windows, iPhones, and tablets for work and communications with customers and contractors. It is important that I am able to communicate-—whether at the office, from home, or on the road.

Since I invited Atlas Solutions to take over the management of my IT systems and devices, I can now focus on meeting the needs of my clients instead of struggling to manage technology. As a result, Peak Play consulting can be more responsive and proactive in meeting the needs of our clients.

I would recommend Atlas to any small or medium business looking to hand off its technology challenges so that it can focus its time and energy on its core business and the needs of its clients. Daryle’s personable yet inquisitive way of approaching my business needs offered relevant solutions that are already serving me well.

Enhancing Performance Metrics through Project Management Consulting
Alberta Emergency Management AgencyIn 2013, the Alberta government took over management of recovery operations after disasters from a third-party contractor. Since that time, the province has worked hard to manage rebuilding grants for several catastrophic disasters—the 2013 Southern Alberta flood alone caused $1.4B in damage. However, the province had few defined workflows or operating procedures to manage these programs. As a consultant to the Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), Atlas was able to introduce project management best practices including tools to estimate the time and effort remaining in closing off existing disaster programs as well as enhancing IT systems and operational workflows to help AEMA more effectively and rapidly respond to requests from communities and individuals for support and assistance. (2016 – 2018)
Applying Service Management Processes to Improve Efficiency
University of LethbridgeThe University of Lethbridge manages many specialized applications that are critical to its various internal communities but which are not considered core enterprises to the institution itself. By implementing an ITIL model of practice to support these applications including introducing service levels, incident management, and problem management protocols, the university was able to reduce service outages, provide clients with a higher confidence that their IT needs were well-managed, and change the culture from one of problem response to problem avoidance. (2012-2015)
Designing an IT Management Framework
Alberta Advanced EducationAn Information Technology Management (ITM) working group within Alberta’s Ministry of Innovation and Advanced Education was created to develop a standardized ITM governance model across the province’s post-secondary institutions. The goal was to more efficiently and effectively address business needs while minimizing IT risk. The working group reviewed standard ITM frameworks including ITIL, PMBOK, and COBIT to develop a set of best practice standards customized for the post-secondary sector. (2012-2014)
Developing and Implementing a Business Analysis Body of Practice
University of LethbridgeCreated a framework to enable better understanding of requirements and clearer quantitative and qualitative metrics when selecting software. The program reduced inefficiencies across the institution with a cost savings of $40K+/year and in many cases improved the suitability of IT solutions. (2012-2014)
Disaster Recovery Planning
Russell InvestmentsAfter Hurricanes Rita and Katrina devastated the southern United States, many companies started to take business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery (DR) more seriously. Russell Investments, a large US capital market firm with over $1T under management was quick to start its own DR plan. As part of this program, we were able to DR enable 47 applications across a wide-range of Russell’s business divisions. Strategies included real-time replication of data, testing the time and processes to recover data from storage, and ensuring cross-training of employees so that processes were documented and staff members understood how to recover systems.
Business Process Re-engineering
Public Employee Pension PlanIn 2006 Saskatchewan’s Public Employee Pension Plan (PEPP), a distributed contribution pension plan with almost $4B under management, wanted to increase its portfolio offering to its members from 2 to 18 different options and to move from weekly valuation of each portfolio to a daily valuation. These changes would increase their workload by a factor of 45 and they were concerned that they would not be able to manage this level of change with their current staff complement and error rate. In a business process re-engineering engagement, a thorough analysis of their workflow models found room for efficiency to allow them to implement these changes with their existing staff complement along with some automation of their communication and approval workflow.
